May 2019 - What happened

A Chelmsford High School pupil was fatally injured when an unsecured locker unit fell onto him. The pupil was waiting in the boy's changing room for their lesson to start, an installation of school lockers; one with the door missing offered an improvised climbing frame for the pupils to climb.

As the pupils climbed the front of the locker unit, it toppled forward, falling onto one of the pupils who sustained a fatal head injury. The other pupil managed to jump free.
