Total Energy Direct Debit
4th January, 2024
We are writing to you to provide an update around the Total Energies Direct debit, this supersedes the previous update, which we have removed, due to further information being received.
Should you pay your electricity bills via direct debit, you will have received 2 bills,
- 1 for October consumption with an invoice date of November,
- 1 for November consumption with an invoice date in December
Total have taken in most cases 2 payments for the October consumption bill in December.
Where the October consumption is lower, which is in the vast proportion of cases, today (4th Jan) they have taken the difference via direct debit.
Where the November consumption is lower, after speaking with Total, and the Procurement manager at ESPO, there currently isn't a plan on now the situation will be resolved. When/if we find more details out, we will let you know.
To complete December period end;
- enter the October consumption bill as normal and pay as normal.
for the second direct debit
- where the November consumption bill is higher than October, then enter this as an order, which you will part pay over December and January.
- where the November consumption bill is lower than October, enter the October invoice again, you will be prompted the invoice number has been used, but proceed, and enter in the description that this is due to a Total error. Once Total have worked out how they will sort this out we will issue further guidance.
If you contact or have contacted Total already, they may have advised to seek an indemnity, we don't think it required as they have now resolved most cases by taking the direct debit for the difference.
