Continuous employment

It is important to establish the length of continuous employment for any employee for the purposes of determining employment rights, potential redundancy benefits and entitlements under statute and nationally and locally agreed terms and conditions of employment. This is a complex area as a given employee could have different lengths of service for each of those areas. Detailed advice is given below regarding continuous service provision and calculating benefits, as well as how continuous service is affected when employees move from a school to an academy (or vice versa) or change their terms and conditions.
